Known by many names, shoulder bags today cover a variety of models. It is the most versatile and classic men’s bag, usually made of leather.
COMPUTER BAGS

All shoulder bags can be used as computer bags and many have dedicated sleeves suitable for your laptop while traveling. These spaces often have padding to help protect your equipment from bumps and scratches. You can see in each bag description their dimensions that can suit the size of your laptop.
WORK BAGS

Work bags or business bags as they are often called, are made with highly treated leather to match the professional appearance of business attire. If your use for this bag is for work purposes, you should look for models with many sleeves and pockets. Many of our bags feature internal and external pockets and sleeves.

MESSENGER BAG

Messenger bags were, as the name suggests, used by early messenger to transport valuable documents and letters. Messenger bags are worn on the back with the strap going across the wearer’s chest. This is why they are mostly small and lightweight. Originally made from different materials, today most are made in leather and usually only have one internal space.

At Manly Stuff we also sell very small messenger bags in leather and waterproof nylon particularly suited for cycling purposes when you do not need much space in your bag.

LEATHER BACKPACKS FOR MEN

Manly Stuff sells leather and canvas backpacks. Canvas backpacks are smaller, lighter and very practical, whereas leather backpacks are for the discerning man who wants something special.

All of our leather backpacks are made from 100% genuine cowhide. We mostly use highly treated leathers because of their smooth and uniform appearances as well as the good protection they offer against different weather conditions.

BACKPACK MAINTENANCE

Leather and canvas should not be treated or maintained in the same fashion. Please refer to the cleaning and maintenance advice given below.

CANVAS BACKPACKS

Canvas is a woven textile fabric made primarily of flax and should be treated the same way as other textile materials.

Canvas does not require extra protection from penetrating sprays.
Avoid using any kind of chemicals or detergents. Stick to warm water as much as possible.
For stains that hot water cannot handle, you can used a little mild detergent mixed with water on a toothbrush to gently brush away the stain.

GYM, DUFFEL AND WEEKENDER BAGS

The gym bag goes by many names and covers a range of weekenders and duffels designed for an exact purpose. Are you looking for a gym bag big enough to hold your sports gear and fit the fitness locker at the studio or a weekender to hold everything for an overnight trip and yet still fit in the overhead bin on the flight? Its rectangular shape is ideal for toiletries and a few outfits and is great when your actual luggage is too large. Remember to choose a duffel bag that meets the carry-on luggage requirements of the airline. Want to use it as a gym bag too? Make sure it’s compact enough to fit the gym locker.

WHAT MATERIAL IS BEST

You have options with materials. Leather looks like you’re going or coming from somewhere great and won’t kill your vibe when you take it with you to the office. A gym or overnight bag in genuine leather is an investment… so save and gift yourself with quality, supple leather. If you do, you’ll end up with a bag that you’re still using 10 years later.

KEEPING YOUR BAG CLEAN

MAINTENANCE OF LEATHER BAGS

A leather bag with heavier processing is easier to clean but doesn’t have the same looks-better-with-age quality of lesser-processed leather. Either way, here are a few tips to keep your leather duffel bag looking its best:

- Never clean with detergents or chemicals.

- Keep your bag dry and avoid storing in direct sunlight.

- If the leather gets dry or dull, use a leather grease with beeswax or other natural ingredients.

- Always let it air out after a trip to the gym or a long weekend holiday.

- Avoid using chemicals or detergents. Stick to warm water if possible.
