Spotting the trends on the catwalk is one thing, being able to wear them is another. With trends and garments being exaggerated for effect on the runway it seems almost impossible to imagine yourself adding them to your wardrobe.
It’s all about fine combing the trends and looking past the predictable print trend for Summer. We’ve picked a number of trends that you can try right now. This season there’s a strong focus on 50’s open collars, embroidery and the genderless trend is as prominent as ever. Below we’ve chosen 5 trends that will keep you on trend during the Spring/Summer months starting with the utility trend that graced the runway in true fashion in a number of collections including Craig Green, CMMN SWDN and Belstaff.

1. Utility

Maison Kitsune | TOD’S | Craig Green | Belstaff
Think work-wear. Additional pockets on shirts, jackets and coats channel this trend perfectly.

2. 50’s Open Collar

Sandro | Louis Vuitton | Matthew Miller | Raf Simons
Try opt for a subtle print or a solid muted block colour. For maximum effect wear the collar outside your jacket or coat.

3. The New Gender

Gucci | Beirendonck | Prada

Not for the faint hearted. Wearing a looser trouser or feminine colours will portray this trend without over doing it. However, do avoid the womenswear section.

4. 3 Stripes And You’re Out

Topman Design | Agi & Sam | Cottweiler | Haider Ackerman
This can be worn either really loud and in your face or as subtle as you like. Clash vertical and horizontal stripes to take it to the next level.

5. Pass The Print

Dries Van Noten | Gucci | Phillip Lim | Richard James

The trusty print. Head-to-toe can be hard to pull off, but if you can, do it!
